A ring should feel as good as it looks. Whether you're choosing a simple silver band, building a stack or buying a gift, checking the fit makes choosing easier.
Understanding UK ring sizes
UK ring sizes use letters, with half sizes between them. The further through the alphabet, the larger the ring. Check that any size you already know is a UK size rather than a number from another sizing system.
Finding your fit
The most reliable starting point is to have the intended finger measured by a jeweller using ring-sizing tools. Try a band of a similar width to the ring you want. It should feel secure and comfortable at the base of your finger and pass over the knuckle with a little resistance, without hurting or feeling restrictive.
Measure the actual finger you intend to wear it on: the same finger on the other hand may need a different size. Avoid measuring when your hands are unusually cold or swollen, and check more than once under normal conditions.
Using a ring you already own
Choose a ring that fits the intended finger well. A jeweller can measure it on a ring mandrel. Its internal diameter can also provide a starting point for a sizing chart, but small measurement errors matter, so don't guess from an approximate reading.
If you use a printable guide, print at 100% or actual size, not fit to page. Check its scale against a ruler first and match the inside edge of your ring, not the outside. String and paper strips can stretch or tighten, so treat these methods as estimates rather than precise fittings.
Choosing stacking rings
A slim band can feel different from a wide ring. Several rings together cover more of your finger and may feel snugger than one alone. Try a similar combined width when checking the fit of a substantial stack rather than automatically choosing a larger size.
Mix smooth, textured and shaped bands, or wear one favourite design on its own. Our stacking rings are handmade in the UK from sterling silver and sold individually, so you can select each style and UK size separately.
Buying a ring as a gift
A confirmed UK size for the intended finger is the safest starting point. An existing ring can help with a surprise gift if you know which finger it fits. Resizing depends on the design and construction, so ask before buying if you are unsure.
